Spring Clean

Image result for spring clean clipartThis week, fifth class took part in the National Spring Clean by collecting rubbish around the school and down the road toward Bridgend.  We were accompanied by Ms Faulkner, Ms Connaughton and Maureen Mc Laughlin.

National Spring Clean is Ireland’s most popular, well recognized and successful anti-litter initiative. Taking place during the whole month of April and now in its 17th year, the campaign encourages every sector of society to actively participate and take responsibility for litter, by actually conducting clean ups in their own local environment.

We were supplied with all the materials we needed from the National Spring Clean website, including bags, gloves and pickers.  We collected many bags of litter and have hopefully inspired our fellow citizens to go out and do the same!

Rinne rang 3, rang 4, rang 5 and rang 6 Tráth na gCeist as Gaeilge chun Seachtain na Gaeilge a chéiliúradh. Bhí deich ceist i ngach bhabhta. Bhaineamar an-sult as an tráthnóna agus bhí deis againn ár gcuid Gaeilge a chleachtadh freisin.

Bhí ceolchoirm againn ar Lá Glás.  Chan muid, bhí damhsa againn, bhí drámaíocht beag agus thug Ms Monaghan duaiseanna amach do na buaiteoirí ó na comórais.

The School Garden

Now that Spring is here Michael and Stephen in fifth class have taken it upon themselves to prepare the school garden and begin planting various vegetables in the classroom.  They are taking this work very seriously and have recruited some help from two fourth class boys, Owen and Charlie.

World Book Day

World Book DayWe were delighted to celebrate World Book Day  on Thursday 2nd March 2017.  World Book Day has become firmly established as Ireland’s biggest annual event promoting the enjoyment of books and reading. The main aim is to encourage children to explore the pleasure of books and reading by providing them with an opportunity to have a book of their own.

We created our own book covers, using books we already know for inspiration or our imagination.  Each class had a winner for most creative and detailed.
